DIY: earrings board

How to make your own earring board (to display your earrings so they won't hook each other up in the drawer)

Materials needed:

1. Corkboard: Artfriend ($9)
2. Feather boa: Artfriend ($5)
3. Mirror frame: Artfriend ($5)
4. Wrapping paper: Borders ($9) - you can buy cheaper ones. I bought this because I LOVE the pink pearlised effect.
5. Pushpins: Kinokuniya ($2)- you should get this type so that the earrings can be supported by the stump. The usual ball ones don't work.

6. Scissors & Double-sided tape.

Total cost: $30

What to do:
1. Cut wrapping paper to fit the corkboard and pushpin the paper onto the board.
2. Double-sided tape the whole frame.

3. Stick mirror onto the centre of the frame, and then stick the boa around the whole frame.
4. Pin up the pushpins wherever you desire and hang up your earrings/accessories!

And it's done in 15 minutes! Simple? :)

The good thing about this board is that when you buy more earrings/accessories, you can still pin them on by rearranging the pushpins to create space. You can also buy a hook and hang the frame up somewhere in your room if you wish to! :)

圆圆的...

partyworld ktv!!!

And then we went to Zhiqian's hall to play Taboo. We were supposed to 赏月 but we couldn't find the stupid 圆圆的 moon. So we decided to be cheena and play Taboo in Chinese instead. It was so damn bloody funny hearing us go "Uhh.. 这个是... like.. 一个东西... like... 可以吃的... then like...不是黑色,是 like 圆圆的" and we still didn't understand (by the way, that was a fishball, and white was a taboo word). That wasn't the funniest one, but the funny ones are damn disgusting (thanks to jiahao's perverse mind) and should not be mentioned in public.

Another cheena day spent with lovely friends. :)

And thanks to it, I got to see D606 again, albeit now only from the outside. Many beautiful memories spent there with the most wonderful guy in my life. :)

And a VERY HAPPY 22nd BIRTHDAY to two of my beloved girlfriends, Ms Lilly Lee Wee Eng & Ms Doreen Tan Meiyan!!! Hope you babes enjoyed yourselves on this very special day!! -hugs-

a day with bernia

I succumbed to the temptation of the evil creature in the basement for the first time ever. But only because it was short today, unlike the usual days when it is usually long and snaky. It only took me 20min to reach the head of the creature. And I had a fellow victim accompanying me today, Ms Bernia Tan. It wasn't our fault. The evil creature tempted us with its wonderful smell....

....And as I type out this post, I slowly devour the delicious donuts from Donut Factory, the demon in the dungeons of Raffles City.

Also, Bernia and I went for a massage at Amore in the afternoon, thanks to the wonderful people at Amore and Women's Day Out who gave us a $50 voucher each in our goodie bag. This time, I went for a massage I never tried before, the Thai Asana massage. Done on a mattress on the floor in the room, with the masseuse pulling me in all directions and cracking my aching bones, it was truly an amazing experience, unlike the usual massages on the bed. But not the best of the best massages I have experienced. I miss the one at Yongji's golf resort in KL. Yongji I want your masseuse!!! Can I buy her??? :p She is amazing!!! All of 90 minutes, she rubbed off my aches, cracked my joints and head, pulled me until my whole body cracked. I really felt like a keropok. After 90 minutes, I practically died on the bed and fell sound asleep. When I woke up the next morning, there was zero tension in my muscles and my neck was soft.. Ooh how I miss that feeling...

Thank you Bernia for spending the day with me!!! It was so so fun chatting with you, especially about all the future tai-tai things we want to do when we go out to work. hee hee hee.. the sho cute Bernia is actually a closet tai-tai!!! :p

Ok back to my shipping law research papers. :(

Harry's

With the Shipping law prof and peeps! :) We went to Harry's @ Boat Quay for drinks first before heading to this nice Italian restaurant called Mag's, where Keong, the shipbroker, gave all of us a treat. Thank you Keong!! :)

Most of them are working adults doing their Masters. Taryn and I always feel so stupid with them, especially since we were doing our Admiralty group presentation with Navin (a shipping lawyer who owns his own firm) and Marco (an Italian doing his Masters). When we were first allocated our groups, Taryn and I were terrified because they looked so smart and scary. But they are SUPER NICE people!! Always telling us not to worry and if the assessor asked us any difficult questions, they will help us answer the questions. And they really did!!! So all Taryn and I had to do was to stand there and look pretty during our presentation. Good job babe! :)

JBJ

The Campaign to Confer a Public Service Star on JBJ was good!!! Ok, not bloody brilliant, but good!!! Pam Oei is a very good actress, but Rodney Oliverio couldn't match up to her. Maybe it was because of their respective roles. Pam had greater avenue to express herself because she kept changing roles while Rodney was more narrative than role-changing.

Nevertheless, every Singaporean should catch it! Seriously, Singaporeans should support local theatre more. The performances are affordable and usually have a "Uniquely" Singaporean taste. If you think you are too atas to watch local productions and would rather revel in the high-class lifestyle of the Esplanade foreign production goers, you are so wrong. Educated Singaporeans these days appreciate local fare as well (judging from the sea of men wearing simple polo-shirts with their taitai wives donning shawls and shiny accessories surrounding my playbuddy Daryl - as in fellow friend who watches plays with me - and me at the Drama Centre tonight)!!!

And I got Eleanor's autograph in the programme booklet as well as a picture with Eleanor, the great lawyer cum playwright cum LAWR tutor! :) When do you ever get the autograph of the playwright? :)

Of course, on the topic of local production, how could I forget to mention KOPISHOP ROCK, an original musical produced, directed, composed, arranged, AND performed by our very own Law IV students!! I think tickets are sold out though. So too bad if you haven't bought your tickets!!! :) For those who have bought tickets, we sincerely hope you enjoy the performance and we thank you for your kind support! :)

swan lake

was impressive! I didn't like the beginning because it was quite boring, but once the swans came out, it was beautiful!!! I loved the backdrops, and the way the swans glided gracefully. It's so amazing how they put a layer of ice over the stage!!! The most challenging part of the whole performance was for the ice-skaters to skate on the Esplanade stage measuring 15m by 15m, which is really small and narrow to ice-skate an entire performance. One of the female skaters actually fell during a stunt in one of the scenes, slided across the ice and almost banged her head onto one of the backdrop panels. Scary!! And there were ice-skaters skating on stilts!!! Amazing...

For those who don't know the story of Swan Lake, it is a ballet composed by the brilliant Russian composer, Tchaikovsky, in 1875. The story is about a prince (Siegfried) who was about to turn 21 and was forced by his parents to declare a bride at his birthday ball. Upset that he could not marry for love, he escaped into the forest at night. He chanced upon a flock of swans on the lakeside and fell in love with a beautiful swan maiden. Little did he know that this swan was princess Odette, who was captured by an evil sorceror, Von Rothbart. Von Rothbart used his magic to turn Odette into a swan by day and woman by night. To break this spell, Odette had to find someone who professes his love for her. Siegfried decided to make her his bride during his birthday ball. During the ball, Von Rothbart disguised his own daughter Odile as Odette. The mistaken prince proclaimed to the royal court that he intended to make her his wife. A moment too late, Siegfried saw the real Odette and realised his mistake. At the end of the day, Siegfried and Odette's true love defeated the evil Von Rothbart, and they lived happily ever after. :)

I was quite disappointed with the music though. Swan Lake in my iTunes is by the Russian State Symphony Orchestra and they play so so beautifully, I feel as if I am listening to them live. However, the music in the Esplanade sounded like a tape recording. Disappointing... Especially my most favourite Russian Dance. And I think I prefer Swan Lake as a ballet. Watching ice-skating on a small stage makes me giddy. I love ballet, and I hope I get a chance to watch Swan Lake as a ballet one day to relive my halcyon days of being a ballerina (in primary sch la - I am too fat to twirl now). I love ballet so much! Next time, I want my daughter to learn ballet but she cannot stop so young or else she will develop thunder thighs like mine.

Nevertheless, it was a wonderful experience! Thank you so much Auntie for the tickets! :)

cheena-ism

Oriental Hotel mooncakes! They taste a lot better than the Raffles Hotel ones this year. The skin is softer and lotus paste is smoother. :)

and the packaging is so pretty!!!

Mooncake Madness in school:

Prelude to Kopishop Rock - Rose feeding Towkay Teo - EVERYBODY MUST BUY TICKETS!!!

The crazy Cheena people who took almost every Chinese law module in law school. Chinese Legal Tradition, Law & Society in China, Chinese Foreign Investment Law, Chinese Intellectual Property and Chinese Contract Law.

We got bored after less than an hour in school so we decided to go for zhichar opposite Beauty World and Kinyew became our Chinese banquet waiter:

(Nothing to do with cheena-ism but...) Thanks to Ping Ying who laughed at me for not shopping enough and not being sure of exactly where Benefit was in Singapore, I bought my first purchase from Benefit @ Tangs!!! At least I guessed correctly! :p So exciting! Their stuff are really very good and I love the packaging! So retro! :)

This is a face brightening powder when you sweep it across your face. It doubles up as a blush if you apply more. :)

It comes with a brush inside!

I love to browse clothes and cosmetics online, but I have never bought a single item online. Why? Simply because if I ever start, my family will turn bankrupt overnight. Also, I love to walk around and try everything on myself. I love to try on clothes and see if the cut fits me - something I will never be able to do online. I enjoy testing cosmetics on my hand. Even Prof Joel Lee asked me why were my wrists redder than the rest of my arms yesterday. I was testing everything at Benefit - especially the Benetint, a red dye that can double up as a blush and lip gloss. Hee hee.. And I like to get free samples of everything from the cosmetic counter (so auntie right?) So how can a girl ever sit at home and shop online? You are missing out on all the fun of doing stuff hands-on and you are getting fat in your seat! Girls, SHOP more on the streets, and lose weight!!

p/s: The boyfriend set up an exchange blog! View here! Just in case you didn't know, Starbucks is from Seattle. The boyfriend will not lack his daily dose of caffeine there! Drink more and eat more!!! Grow fat fat!! Then you cannot complain that I am fat! :)

guess

Dresses from Guess:

Amber floral. Pretty pretty!

Casey dolmain. Pretty but my fat arms will look even fatter.

Colleen. Simple, casual and sweet. But I have enough of black and whites.

Emily tight black. Something I wish I could wear, but only suits people like Becki Newton (Amanda Tanen of Ugly Betty)

Julie checked. I WANT!!! I love the little black velvet bow and the bottom of the V.

Lindsay keyhole red. Nice colour! And keyholes enhance cleavage.

Pamela (named after a friend!). Another keyhole, but with brighter colours.

Paradise red flowers. I like the pattern, but the capped sleeve and boat neck cut will make my broad shoulders even broader and uglier.

Sweetpea. So sweet!!! I WANT!!!

Valerie long puffy sleeves. I like the cleavage, but the puffy sleeves will make my arms look fatter. (Problem with having fat and flabby arms. Cannot wear batwing, puffy, capped.. sigh..)

Wenda wrap. I love the wrap! And it sounds like my name too. That's why I bought it! :)

Zebra print halter. I love halters and I love Vnecks. But it's black and white. Again.

Zoey simple black. Your typical LBD. But my thighs too fat to pull off the slit.

Guess Singapore has a promotion! Spend more than $150 with UOB card and get 10%!! But they are damn smart. Each dress is like $145. So I had to buy two to get the discount. The other dress I bought is not on the website. :( It's an LBD with big button straps. Check out their website for more!
