~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Susie introduced me to PostSecret last year and I have been reading it since (thanks Susie dear!!!). Every week, a new batch of anonymous, aptly decorated postcards with one-liners of people's deepest darkest secrets are posted. It is amazing how one simple line can be so heartwrenching or so full of hatred or, once in a while, make you smile. It can be really painful to read, yet something compels me to keep going back to the website. Perhaps it's because I am comforted knowing that I am not the only one with secrets. Perhaps even though reading the cards make my heart break, they, at the same time, make me count my blessings. I decided to share this website with you because of a particular card this week which says,
"This is the last time I will be reading PostSecret because I can't stand to read it alone."
You are never alone because you are not the only person in the world feeling this way. Whatever problems you have, whatever difficulties you face, someone else is having it worse than you. So stop thinking you are the most pathetic person in the world, and embrace the wonderful things that you have in life. They may not be obvious, because people tend to notice failures and sad stuff more, but the happy things ARE there. Right before you. Take a closer look around, and spend time finding those wonderful things and then appreciating them, rather than wasting that time complaining about your sucky life. If you still cannot find anything, just look up in the sky. God is always there for you, watching over you. And remember, nothing you suffer compares to the pain that Jesus suffered when He was crucified for our sins. Sins that He did not commit. Still wanna complain about your unfair life?
We were allowed to take photos inside!!! :)
First up, the goddess Athena from whom the Greeks named their city.
And then Alexander the Great
A lion which can be found on the tombs of men who were known to be courageous.
Aphrodite, the goddess of love, holding a ball. HAHAHA...
a discus thrower in what was known as the ancient Olympics.
The double portrait of Aristophanes and Sophocles
Plus we tried on Grecian costumes! :D
Goddess Wendy
Goddesses Gene & Wendy
So cool right? And there are more than 100 sculptures! It's only $4 per entry for students! A must go!!!
catching up
with friends whom I haven't seen since forever (ok it has only been a few months...)!!!
Monday
with my darling doreen. We exchanged gifts from Victoria's Secret. How lame right? So happy my darling doreen re-joined Cali! :) The only thing I missed when I was in the US was gymming. HAHAHA... So much so that on Monday, I just had to go for Su's bodycombat. It really made me feel refreshed, recharged and all ready for the final semester of my educational years (also made me feel less fat from the glorious food I ate in the States).
Tuesday
with gene and qiu at some Korean restaurant in Novena for lunch.
spicy beancurd soup//fried potato pancake//spicy kimchi soup//fried niangao (v nice!!!) and...
my bibimbap!!! I love bibimbap coz it always looks very pretty at first and then I will just mix everything up and eat it like dog food. hahaha...
We looked like crap coz they rushed down from sch while I rushed down from gym, so no photos of us! :(
Wednesday
with xiaowei at cedele for some healthy pasta!
red pepper and tomato soup
arrabiata tomato penne
alfredo mushroom linguine
Yeah my life revolves around gymming and eating, then gymming and eating again. My two most favourite activities in life. Helps me to maintain the fat at a stable fat level. Pure bliss. :)
Back in Singapore!
School started on Monday and I have intensives every evening again. Why do I always subject myself to such torture every semester taking two intensives? Coz after one month, I am done with two modules!!! muahaha...
Last bits of photos of Seattle. Went downtown for more shopping!
Tris tried on a really cute Eskimo hat:
And then we had Thai food for lunch:
And Indian food for dinner!!! :D
Oh and we actually found Yeo Hiap Seng soybean milk in a Vietnamese restaurant! But the can said it's a product of China. wth...
Lastly, a slideshow of our entire trip dedicated to the boyfriend! :)
5 more months before I see you again.. :( Come back quick quick k???
san francisco
San Fran! :) Didn't take many photos though. I was too busy shopping in San Fran. My sister brought me to the factory outlets. Surprisingly, I didn't buy anything from the factory outlets which had mostly old and a wee bit defective stuff, often coming in either extremely small or humongously big sizes. The boutique sales were enough to get me going CRAZY!!! I bought stuff at more than 60% off retail prices in the boutiques themselves for myself and friends! :D Bebe, Coach (yes I gave into temptation *hides face in shame*), Gap, Victoria's Secret, you name it... I made the boyfriend a shopaholic too! hahahaha... He actually ENJOYS shopping now. He even bought an Emporio Armani top which was on sale from a hot Japanese salesgirl. :D
First up, FOOD!! San Fran has tons of food from all over the world. The first evening, we had Japanese food:
Krispy Kreme!!! Yes Zhiqian, it serves the best donuts in the world...
A cute American football donut.
And Indian food!!! I missed curry and tikka masala so so much!
New year in the Hilton! :)
Erm... there was a firework display... somewhere in the distance...
Ghirardelli Square on New Year's Day:
Ghirardelli Xmas tree!!
Ghirardelli cafe hot fudge sundae in the bitter cold. Bad idea. I froze to death.
Alcatraz:
The Rock in the distance.
My boy... oops I mean girlfriend. :p
I felt quite uncomfortable in Alcatraz so I didn't dare to take too many photos inside the cells. So weird to take photos of prison cells that were used by ex-convicts. Ugh.. The pink bars are doors into the souvenir shop.
Okie, then back to Seattle in a tiny plane with propellers which freaked the boyfriend out. He was too afraid to fidget in case the plane tilted in the air.
And finally, a tribute to the psp crazy boyfriend of mine:
in the hotel room, the plane, the greyhound, and while talking to me. What a multitasker, anytime, anywhere. :p
Happy New Year! :)
