i wonder...
I also realised that I have been posting about the fun I have in and out of work! I am not mocking those who stay till the wee hours just doing endless research kk? I just want to make you guys happier when you take time out to read my blog!!! :) I mean, sure we all have our own fair share of complaints and grumblings about the shitload of work we have, but we must always remember 3 short points (yes I know you have no time to read):
1. Count your blessings
Ooh you have TONS OF WORK TO DO. But guess what? Someone will always have more work than you. And be glad you have work to do! Some people cannot even find a job. So you think drafting contracts or taking a whole day researching on one tiny point is tough? Wait till you try collecting refuse or clearing the sewage. I think you will appreciate staring at silly clauses or the white book and counting your blessings (money).
Of course, it is always good to complain and get everything out of your chest. It can be therapeutic and that's what friends are for really. But don't forget, while you have problems, your friends have their own set of problems too. So when you meet them for meals (see point 2 below), please don't just talk about yourself. It can be pretty irritating. Slap me if I do. Thanks.
2. Family and Friends
Time is of the essence. Lunch, dinner and the occasional drinks are the only times you have out of office. So what should you do? GET OUT OF OFFICE!!! Meet different friends every day for lunch to catch up with them and get your life back on track. Update yourself on the latest gossip and news while munching away so that you don't shrivel and die alone on your table. And honestly, when you have work piled up and you are damn stressed, taking an hour off to meet your friends for dinner can really help make you feel better and prepare yourself to take on more work.
Don't forget about your family too! Catch up on the latest gossip about the family quarrel as well. Given that you are non-existent at home, you probably will not be a direct party to the quarrel so your family members will ask you to mediate. It will probably be too taxing for you to do so (please don't tell your family that your hours are billable/non-billable) but at least attempt to grunt out some opinions before you crash on your bed so that your mother will not complain to your aunty that you are unfillial.
3. God
Don't forget that He is always with you. No matter how tired and sick of work you are, always remember that He is always there cheering you on. For one minute every day at work, just close your eyes and pray. Don't just grumble to Him. Thank Him for the work and ask Him for the strength you need to complete your work efficiently and properly. It works. :)
And I have available slots for lunch/dinner/drinks so if you need someone to complain to or if you just miss me so much that you will die if you don't see me anytime soon, please feel free to sms me and tell me how much you miss me. I love you guys too so do take care ya?
~ When you saw only one set of footprints in the sand, it was then I carried you. ~

it has been...
Perhaps I like the serenity and solitude of staying at home and not facing other human beings for once.
Perhaps I just like the sound of silence, for once.
Perhaps I just like the attention showered by my family and friends, calling/msning me to ask how I am or to buy my porridge/noodles soup for me.
Perhaps it's just very comfortable to snuggle in bed when the rain pours and the thunder roars.
Well.. It doesn't mean that staying at home is boring. I had many exciting adventures every night.
Sunday night:
I was in Disneyland, having fun and going on all the rides until suddenly, the entire sky turned dark and people started screaming, RUN!!!! A dark shadow loomed over disneyland and a huge dinosaur figure was stomping its way towards me. I ran and ran, and once I was too tired to run anymore, I decided to hide under a big rock. Unfortunately, the dinosaur found me, and started attacking me with a torchlight until it 'killed' me. When it finally concluded that I was 'dead', it stopped attacking me and said, "ok you are dead. I am done with my job. Shall we go get a drink?" The dinosaur (on closer view, was a green T-rex costume) removed his costume and it was KEE MIN!!!
How random can I get??? Kee Min was indeed highly amused when I told him.
"kee min: what dinosaur was it
wendy. sick.: the plastic green t-rex thingy
kee min: okay, at least it was green and a trex. i actually thought it was barney or something..."

Monday night/morning (I wake up at 3pm every day):
I was at a kopitiam with my parents eating nasi padang when suddenly, the SWAT team surrounded the kopitiam and told us to lie low because terrorists were going to attack the kopitiam. And then, randomly masked people started shooting towards us and the police shot back. Everyone in the kopitiam was so frightened that we didn't dare to move at all. It was only when all went quiet that the police said, "ok all clear! Everyone hurry get as far away as possible!" We RAN to our cars, and tried to drive away as fast as possible, but there was a horrible jam due to the mayhem, so my father decided to take a short cut across the alley. Unfortunately, the alley was too narrow for the car, so we decided to run away on foot. I, being the fastest runner, ran ahead and told my parents, "Mummy, Daddy, just run, don't stop to listen to anyone and just run!!!" Suddenly, I heard this door open behind me and someone said to my parents, "Hi can you pick that up for me?" I didn't dare to turn back but I screamed again, "Mummy, Daddy, don't pick up!! RUN!!!" I ran with all my might, and when I finally reached the end of the alley, I turned back, and my parents were gone.
Now that was freaky... I bet this dream was thanks to Mas who still hasn't been found. This was probably the reason why I didn't dare to go to the doctor on Monday. I have to walk past a kopitiam to go to my GP.
© zTuesday night:
I was a vj student again, going to hwa chong for a conference or something. I suddenly felt the urge to go to the toilet, so I left the room and went to find a toilet nearby. But there was only a male toilet!!! I looked around for a female toilet but the only sign pointing to a female one was to a mini roller coaster car by the side of the corridor. So I got onto the car, and I actually had to take a freaking roller coaster ride around the perimeters of the hc building before I reached my final destination, the female toilet.
This is how random I can really get. Ok I know hc is independent and rich, but roller coaster? I suspect it has something to do with the hc boyfriend who refused to take roller coasters with me in california adventure park. Oh well...

Who said staying at home wasn't fun?
I am feeling a lot better now. Thanks to those who expressed your concern! :) Now back to maritime law for my maritime adventure of collisions, salvage and wreck.

In her homeland filled with friends and family,
The silence she hears as she lays in bed at night can be so deafening.
she misses you so much.

Susie introduced me to PostSecret last year and I have been reading it since (thanks Susie dear!!!). Every week, a new batch of anonymous, aptly decorated postcards with one-liners of people's deepest darkest secrets are posted. It is amazing how one simple line can be so heartwrenching or so full of hatred or, once in a while, make you smile. It can be really painful to read, yet something compels me to keep going back to the website. Perhaps it's because I am comforted knowing that I am not the only one with secrets. Perhaps even though reading the cards make my heart break, they, at the same time, make me count my blessings. I decided to share this website with you because of a particular card this week which says,
周围一片漆黑时,
别忘了抬头看着星空,
我向你眨眼。

daughters of Eve
In ancient times, men practised polygamy. The woman must follow her man wherever he went. This is the so-called 嫁鸡随鸡,嫁狗随狗 (marry chicken, follow chicken; marry dog, follow dog). A woman's quality of life depended on the kind of man she married. Watch any Chinese period drama (e.g. the current Channel U 10pm HK drama) and you will see. Men can change when they become powerful and women are always sadly drawn into men's affairs. There are the poor women who slogged with their husbands when they were poor. When the men became rich and powerful kings, the women had to share him with younger and prettier concubines and the man would ignore his wife (who has since gone south). That's probably why women are inherently vain. They needed to prettify themselves to capture the attention of influential men so that they can have a good life. And maybe that's why these women became scheming and evil. They lost the trust they had in their men, and they will fight for their son to be the next king, because they know that the only man who would listen to them was their son (of course until he finds himself a wife whom he will listen to.. until he finds pretty concubines and stop listening to his wife.. and the cycle starts again.). So anyway, these women will end up becoming the Empress Dowagers. They may hold the reins of the throne, but deep down inside, they haven't achieved anything in their lives. Because they lost the love of the man who used to love them so deeply, and they are embroiled in the affairs of the government. Women don't want to lead such lonely lives. So although they may be decked in pearls, gold and silk, I feel so sad for them. And those concubines, what sad lives. Pretty and all, but the emperor has thousands of them to choose from and the concubines had to fight for his attention. No wonder women became so bitchy.
With the women’s suffrage movement in the early 20th century, the trend towards monogamy and the enactment of the Women’s Charter, women around the world advocated the equal rights of women. The women have succeeded to a large extent. Women can now, inter alia, vote, have equal wages for the same amount of work done as men and choose who they wished to marry. However, I feel that women, especially those who advocate true equality between men and women, have gone too far and have put themselves in a huge fix. What women want is to have equal chances as men to do things, e.g. work in a certain field, have a choice as to what they want in life, but women do not want to be exactly the same as men. Yet many women attempt to assert their power in a way that is utterly irrational. “If men can do this, so can I.” So women say they can be CEOs and presidents. Fair enough. And women say they can climb mountains and lift weights that men can. Also fair enough. But what irks me is when such ambitious women also say, “well, I can be a CEO/president because if men can do it, so can I, but I still think men should open doors and pull out chairs for me.” There really shouldn’t be such double standards. Such women do not deserve my respect. If you think you are too weak to open doors, pull out chairs and need a man’s shoulder to cry on, then you really shouldn’t be equal to men.
Nevertheless, I am sure women of today are very happy with their status. In fact, I feel that women have more privileges than men these days! We have women-only gyms, events (Women’s Day Out, Shape Run – only for women so that we won’t feel uncomfortable sweating it out with smelly men around), huge shopping malls and make up counters largely for the female market. Although men are no longer ostracized as gays if they do shop, you have to admit, the retail industry IS geared towards women. And I am not complaining.
There are differing views as to the rights that women have today. I personally feel that women must have equal opportunity to make their own choices as men and receive equal treatment/judgment in the quality of their work. The point is not that women can become CEOs/presidents and climb mountains because they are as strong as men, but because they should have an equal chance to pursue their goals in life. However, there is really no need to push ourselves to such a high standard of wanting to be treated as equal to men. I still want my man to open doors and pull out my chair for me. Simply because I am a woman. :)

little. miss. grumpy.
4 years in law sch, and I have never once complained about any group I have had for group presentations. But this time, IT SUCKS!!! I thought I would leave law sch happy, knowing that law students are such wonderful people to work with, but NO... Some idiots have to spoil it. RARRRRRRR!!! Thankfully they are not local students, or I will curse and swear at the fact that I may have to work with them in the future. These are people I know I will never ever have to work with, and I better not see them again. And I am not afraid to say it here because they really didn't do any substantial work at all. Utterly irresponsible creatures.
%$*?#*!@#$%^&*
I remember when I used to watch local dramas (note: used to), there would be this romantic scene:
At the airport
Guy: My love, I am leaving now and I will be gone for a very long time. Will you be able to take care of yourself?
Girl: (sniffles) I cannot live without you!!!
Guy: I know.. Me too.. (takes out an envelope from his jacket) Since you cannot live without me? Would you like to come along with me? (presents the girl an air ticket with her name)
Girl: Oh my love!! Yes I would love to!!! But.. what about my passport??
Guy: Don't worry! (reaches into his jacket again) I have my ways.. (wink)
They hug and happily leave together, the girl not carrying any luggage.
Now that was plausible, because he had her passport and he was still in Singapore and could pay for the ticket with his credit card. But there would also be another romantic scene often played in local dramas:
In the girl's house. The girl receives a letter from her beau overseas. Reads the letter
"My love, I miss you so much. How I wish you are right here with me. Would you like to come and be with me right now? I have attached your ticket in this letter." (girl sees the ticket, with her name imprinted on it) "Please come soon. I love you."
Girl is touched by the gesture of love and is overwhelmed with emotions (cries) Runs to the airport to catch her flight, and the lovers finally meet in the foreign land and hug each other to death.
THIS IS UTTER BULLSHIT. The guy couldn't have bought a ticket for her while he is overseas. He needs a local credit card. Even if he did possess a local credit card, the girl needs to present that credit card, together with the air ticket at the airport counter when she checks in. The guy certainly didn't attach his credit card in the letter. So much for drama serials which make it so easy for guys overseas to buy airtickets for their wives/girlfriends/mistresses to fly over to meet them. GRR... Don't airlines promote love??? Boyfriends want to show their love by buying air tickets for their girlfriends. Why is buying airtickets for other people so bloody troublesome? I sincerely apologise to the boyfriend for all the trouble I have created.
By the way, I have always been worried if posting pictures from other websites on my blog (e.g. dresses, movie posters) would lead to copyright suits by the biggie companies because I am not the author/creator of the work. And sadly, from now on, I will no longer do so because it is a copyright infringement. After yesterday's IP class, I found that out in Virtual Map v Suncool [2005] 2 SLR 157. I cannot do so because I:
(i) did not add any element of material alteration or embellishment which suffices to make the totality of the work an original work (per Lord Oliver of Aylmerton in Interlego AG v Tyco Industries Inc [1989] AC 217 at 262);
(ii) did not expended the kind of skill, labour and effort required in the work to be rewarded with that copyright (which the biggie fashion/movie companies have);
(iii) have taken an individual part of a collection of separate works of the companies, albeit not substantial, which constitutes a qualitative taking of the work;
(iv) have knowledge that the work doesn't belong to me.
In that case, the defendant reproduced a map image from the plaintiff's website (streetdirectory.com) on his own website, suncool.com.sg, to inform customers of the location of his office, without the consent of the plaintiffs. Justice Lai Kew Chai, based on the above reasons (and other reasons irrelevant to my posting of pictures on my blog) held that the defendant had infringed on the plaintiff's copyright.
:( But aren't I helping them promote their stuff? I cannot post pictures of pretty dresses on my blog anymore. *sob* Looks like I can only post photos that I have taken in my camera from now on. Hmm.. I wonder if I should delete all the previous pictures too..
And bloody Lawnet 2 SUCKS!!! As well as the new IVLE! I hate all these new things. Giving us more problems than the old trusty systems. When something is not broken, why try to fix it??? Stupid idiots. Those people who came up with Lawnet 2 and the new IVLE (I suppose you are tech-savvy people so you can find my blog), you better do something about it. We don't pay for Lawnet just to realise that there are too many people logged on or that it takes forever to find our cases. Stupid Lawnet.
Ok I am done with my ranting for today. Thanks for listening (reading)! :)

911

I remember. I was mugging for my Chemistry and Higher Chinese O level prelims that night when I got out of my room to get a drink. My father was watching CNA and all of a sudden, I saw one majestic tower explode. I was like, "Cool! Daddy what's that? Who made it?" He was like, "It's real! Terrorists bombed one of the U.S. Twin Towers." I couldn't believe it. I sat there, momentarily forgetting about my double papers the following day (seriously, who cared about exams when an important world event was happening?) At first, I was just awed by the whole image. It was unbelievable. How could anyone actually do that without the US even knowing? And then it struck me. I saw what seemed like stick figures jumping out of the building. Like JUMP. And I realised. They were people, live human beings. Thousands of people were dying. High-flying professionals, CEOs, people who were worth millions of dollars. Yes they were indeed 'high-flying', but their million dollar bodies meant nothing in that rubble.
Thanks to US propaganda, I too felt that the NYFD deserve a lot of respect. Whether a corporate mogul or a toilet cleaner, the NYFD didn't care. They just saved. I don't think they were like, "Hey there are two injured, one Asian, one White, let's save the white first," or "Hey bro, this guy is in a suit, and this woman is a cleaner, let's save the richer one first." They probably just saved according to the 'saveability' of the people in medical terms.
Anyway, on this 6th anniversary of 9-11, I salute the people who risked their lives to save others, who waited for everyone to run down the staircase before running down themselves, who helped in one way or another to save the injured, or comfort the families of the dead. No matter how we may be irritated with the way the US government handled the matter, we still mourn the lost of thousands of innocent lives.
Of course, addressing the issue in a legal sense, this incident raised the awareness of damages done by aircraft on third parties, persons outside the aircraft as well as buildings. Like the poor old 1952 Rome Convention on Damage caused by Foreign Aircraft to Third Parties on the Surface which was probably ignored till then. Which is good. But it also raised the awareness of terrorism, causing all the trouble of airport security. Is it all necessary? There are many implications of tightened security, leading to many discrimination cases as well as delays in flights. Which is bad.
I guess everything has its pros and cons.
Some trivia on 9-11:
Date of attack: 9/11 - 9+1+1=11
September 11 is the 254 day of the year: 2+5+4=11
After Sep. 11 there are 111 days left in the year
119 is the area code to Iraq/Iran: 1+1+9=11
Twin Towers standing side by side looks like 11
The first plane to hit the Towers was Flight 11
NY was the 11th state added to the Union
New York City -11 letters Afghanistan-11 letters
The Pentagon-11 letters
Flight 11-92 on board: 9+2=11
Flight 77-65 on board: 6+5=11

p/s: on a stupid note, I remember the thing on everyone's minds that year was whether the terrorists will bomb UK so we won't have O levels that year because the papers can't be flown to Cambridge. Young kids...

bimbos
Why bimbos make good girlfriends:
1. They boost your ego.
They are stupid.
No matter how stupid you are, you will still look smarter than her.
2. They look good.
Bimbos, as the definition states, MUST be attractive.
No matter how ugly you are, seriously, nobody will look at you and wonder "Why is this hot chick with such a fugly guy?" because there is probably a reason why she is with you (this is not the case vice-versa: Somehow, people question more when a fugly girl is with a damn hot guy) Does anyone know why?
3. They will always listen to you.
They are pliable, i.e. to say, they are so naive that they will take whatever you say readily. No questions asked. Which makes it very easy to bluff them and because of this, you can be sure that they are very compliant. Nice to have girlfriend who always listens to you.
Of course, there are bad points to dating a bimbo. However, if you are in a relationship with one due to any of the above reasons, you need to understand that all the other bad sides/characteristics stem from the above 3 characteristics. Bimbos are so stupid that they only know (and hence only bother) about those 3 things, i.e. not want to know more in life, only wants to look good and doesn't know anything so whatever you say goes. So don't you dare get irritated when your girlfriend doesn't know who Andrew Lloyd Webber is while watching the Phantom of the Opera with you. It's not her fault. It's yours. You chose her. (To my bimbo friend who really did that: I still love you!!!)
Unfortunately people always want to take only the good but not the bad because it is simply in human nature to only want the good things in life!
But what if the good and the bad characteristics of the person stem from the same fundamental nature of the person? What if you fell for her because she is a very confident and firm-minded girl (unlike other insecure girls) but you don't like her stubbornness? What if you fell for her because she is drop dead gorgeous but don't like the fact that she is very vain and makes you wait 3 hours while she does her make-up? What if you love your bimbo girlfriend because she always listens to you and boosts your ego but you start questioning whether you should be with her when she says that all she wants to do is shop?
Ironically, some couples break up because one party realises that he/she cannot tolerate the trait which is the fundamental trait that attracted him/her to the other party. What couples need to learn is that love is acceptance. And acceptance means accepting both the good AND the bad. Sounds easy? Apparently not.
We will always be in the learning process. :)

a simple slacking life
Wendy needs to stop shopping. Wendy needs to start saving money so she can shop till she drops at the factory outlets in US in December. Wendy needs to stop shopping NOW. Wendy bought her last dress today (let's hope it is my last purchase of the year until December).
Wendy is getting lazier. Wendy has been watching too many DVDs this whole break. She has travelled to Manhattan (sex and the city - LILLY LEE your last season last dvd doesn't work!!! *suffers from withdrawal symptoms*), Austria & South Korea (Spring Waltz) as well as Taiwan (花样少年少女). Wendy has been ogling at cute guys: Absolut Hunk, Daniel Henney and Wu Zun (who is so so cute but cannot act to save his life). Wendy has also been watching too much tv and ogling at hot babes: Amanda in Ugly Betty, Gabrielle Solis in Desperate Housewives and Kitty Walker (Calista Flockhart) in Brothers & Sisters (which happens to be a really good show and I actually don't mind Calista as Kitty, considering how I boycotted Ally McBeal because I hated her and her dancing baby). Wendy needs to lift her heavy butt off the sofa once school starts. UGH!
Wendy doesn't want to go back to school because she has intensives every single evening except Friday. *sob* Can't wait for mid sem break coz after that I only have a 2-day week!
Wendy is just bored and being random in this post.
And bon voyage Maurice! Hope you and your hairdryer enjoy Denmark! :p

"That depends a good deal on where you want to get to," said the Cat.
"I don't care where - " said Alice.
"Then it doesn't matter which way to walk. If you don't know where you are going, any road will take you there," said the Cat.

live earth
the irony:
A Daily Mail investigation has revealed that far from saving the planet, the extravaganza will generate a huge fuel bill, acres of garbage, thousands of tonnes of carbon emissions, and a mileage total equal to the movement of an army.
The most conservative assessment of the flights being taken by its superstars is that they are flying an extraordinary 222,623.63 miles between them to get to the various concerts - nearly nine times the circumference of the world. The true environmental cost, as they transport their technicians, dancers and support staff, is likely to be far higher.
The total carbon footprint of the event, taking into account the artists' and spectators' travel to the concert, and the energy consumption on the day, is likely to be at least 31,500 tonnes of carbon emissions, according to John Buckley of Carbonfootprint.com, who specialises in such calculations.
Throw in the television audience and it comes to a staggering 74,500 tonnes. In comparison, the average Briton produces ten tonnes in a year.
The concert will also generate some 1,025 tonnes of waste at the concert stadiums - much of which will go directly into landfill sites.
Moreover, the pop stars headlining the concerts are the absolute antithesis of the message they promote - with Madonna leading the pack of the worst individual rock star polluters in the world.
Sepermodel Kate Moss, another profligate polluter through her use of private jets, is producing a T-shirt for the event. Yet, Gore is touting the concerts as 'carbon neutral'. So how can that be?

And Durai is down with Dengue. Looks like he hasn't been doing the Mozzie Wipeout since the water in his sink with the golden tap is probably stagnant by now. Guess he should start chanting: 'If they breed, you will bleed' in his anonymous ward.

our future leader?
But honestly, sometimes there is just no other way but to bash through hierarchy to get things done. Many say that he could get away with it because he is you-know-who's son/grandson. He may have gotten away with a simple reprimand now. But don't forget, because of this seemingly impetuous act of his, he probably lowered his chance of becoming the next leader of our country. And for that, I respect him. If he joins WP, I will definitely vote for him. hur hur...

happy birthday to me
Mummy
For her incessant naggings and yellings at me to study, not spend so much time going out with my friends or being a kapo in prefectorial board, council and law club. And for her charitable nature when it comes to buying LV bags and ferragamo shoes for me, just so that I feel like the most pampered girl in the world. No matter how much we quarrel, just know that I love you so so much and no one, NO ONE, can ever ever replace you in my heart. I know it's payback time once I start working, but trust me, it is not a burden to me. It's time for me to show my appreciation for all you have done for me. I love you Mummy.
Daddy
For gladly being my chauffeur regardless of wherever I want to go and never complaining (unless I haven't come out from the party and he is waiting at a no waiting zone or along the roadside - that is purely my fault), and for paying for everything else mummy refuses to pay for so that I will be an even more pampered girl, Thank you Daddy! I love you too.
Sister
For being irritated at me when I was born because I robbed her away from my parents' attention which she had been basking in for 11 years before I came along. For chasing the shrieking and noisy me out of her room when her friends came over to gossip about school. And for growing together, and understanding each other better as I grew older (the age gap seems to narrow as you grow older). We are not the best of friends or soulmates yet, but I know one day we will reach there. I love you my Sister.
Grandmothers
My maternal grandmother who gave me everything I wanted within her means. Especially cooking my favourite food (yes that's a very good way to tell me you love me) like Chicken Rendang and all the delicious Peranakan food. For calling me mak-nenek when I was a cheeky kid, and making me love my Peranakan heritage. She can't remember me now, because she has gone severely senile, but I know deep down inside, she will never ever forget me.
My paternal grandmother who also pampered me and cooked my favourite food (see, that's why I am so fat. Go one grandma's house - eat, go another ah ma's house - eat). For making tonic soups and bird's nest for me every Sunday and in return I thread her needles and divide her medicine up.
Boyfriend
To my ex-boyfriends who taught me how to love AND not to love, who made me who I am now so I can give my all to my current boyfriend, Tris.
To Tris, who has done so much for me, who loves me regardless of my pouting, crying, and acting cute. He always says he doesn't do much, but to me, he is the most wonderful gift God has given to me this year and I hope we will last for a long long time. I wuv yew!
Friends
Friends come and go, but true friends remain true even if they had gone overseas for a year, or if you have lost contact (and found each other on facebook) or if you simply are too busy to meet up. True friends are those who, even when you haven't talked for a while, you can still share your deepest secrets.
Special thanks to pre-university friends: Chwee Ying, Doreen darling, and the other Councillors; uni friends: CX, Lilly, Genevieve and everyone else who remembered my birthday and sent me their well-wishes.
Sometimes, you don't know who your friends are until they pop out of the blue to wish you a Happy Birthday when you have already forgotten theirs. *guilty look*
God
For creating me, for being my most powerful source of motivation and love. For bestowing upon me Your love through the people you have brought into my life. You are so so great and amazing. I don't need to see You to believe You exist. I know you do, because my family and friends exist. You give Your love through them, and I will give my love to You back through them, family, friends, strangers and even enemies. Thank you my Lord, and may You bless the world forever.
I prayed at midnight to thank You for bringing me into this world, and asked You to lead the way. I didn't know how You were going to help me, but You did, by letting me chat with someone I haven't chatted with for so long, so I could learn more about You, and I know You will always guide my way.
No material gifts can express Your love for me. And you give me the most precious gifts I have: Jesus, my family, Tris and the most beautiful blog I have ever seen in my entire life because it is dedicated to me, friends and a powerful conversation with someone who was eversowilling to deprive himself of sleep to chat with me about You until the wee hours of the morning. You know who you are. Thank you.
I wish myself a Happy Birthday. :)

public transport
I had to go down to both law iv charities to collect posters and brochures for the law iv booth during Homecoming this Sunday. Since lerk was not free and I thought daddy was busy fetching my ah ma to the hospital for her checkup and then going to work right after, I decided to embark on my own public transport journey to SPH at Toa Payoh and then to CCF at Bukit Timah (sans cab). It would be the first time I take public transport everywhere for the whole day.
The journey to SPH was relatively smooth, because I have been there by public transport before. Took 55 from my place to Eunos MRT, MRT to Toa Payoh and then 157 or 163 from Toa Payoh Interchange to the 7th bus stop after the BIG building called the SPH News Centre (man I sound so bimbotic). However, clever me decided to go there at 1 instead of 2 so I can get over and done with it. And what's at 1? Lunch time!!! No one was in office. Grr... So I called up the CCF babe and asked if she will be at CCF at 2 to pass me the stuff. Thankfully she would be done with lunch by 2, so I walked from SPH to Braddell MRT, took MRT to Novena and then the KK Hospital Shuttle Bus (which I know of thanks to the Children's Reading Programme I did at KK Hospital) to KK, then walked to the CCF place which was nearby. I reached there at 2, and the CCF babe was there. I didn't realise she would pass me not just cardboard posters, brochures cute CCF mini t-shirts and handphone straps, but also a donation tin and a HUGE CCF poster with a metal stand, which was so bloody heavy I couldn't carry it up a bus/MRT, no matter how heavy weights I do in Bodypump. So 'wendy takes the public transport' day ended there and I took a taxi back to SPH. I had to tell the cab driver to wait at the car park for me to go up and grab the SPH posters and brochures. The cheapo cab driver refused to stop the meter (or else he would start the meter all over again when I got back) so I let him keep it running. So he drove me all the way back to Marine Parade, and when I got out of the cab after paying $14, I walked to my lift and guess who I saw?
My father.
He didn't go to work after sending my ah ma home from the hospital at 12. By then I had already left the house. He gave me the most innocent look when he saw me carrying 6 bags of posters, brochures and the very heavy metal stand and simply asked, why didn't you tell me where you were going, and immediately looked away with "oops" on his face. Silly father of mine. :(
I am not complaining about public transport here. In fact, I applaud our public transport system because I never knew places in Singapore were actually easy to go around even without a car/cab. And the experience was so so fun! The only problem, which is a very big problem for me, is the bloody hot sun. In case you guys didn't know, I was called "Michael Wenkson" in my VJ Council (among other nicknames like sexytary and mother hen) because I HATE HATE HATE THE SUN and I went everywhere with my UV block umbrella even while painting banners outdoors. That's why I go to the gym despite my house being right opposite East Coast Park. The only thing I will ever do in the sun is play golf. So please don't ask me to go Sentosa to enjoy the sun unless you are paying for my flight in Sentosa Golf Club.
Also, I know that many people don't have the luxury to be driven around by the most wonderful father in the world and that they actually do what I did today for every single day of their lives. For this, I count my blessings and I thank my father who ever so willingly accepts the role as my chauffeur. He even proudly told me that he will send me to work every day when I start working, as long as I pay for the car, maintenance and petrol. Hur hur... I don't mind, because I get to avoid the raffles crowd, and I get to spend quality time listen to my father nag in the car. All this until he turns senile and forgets where Marine Parade is. I love you Daddy! :)

when you are bored
I won my boyfriend! :)

And I win again because...

:) I love you too! Thank you for spending the whole day with me. Don't say you didn't do much. You being there for me, during my best and worst times, was the most wonderful thing that could ever happen to me. I love you.

choices
I didn't want him that much, but he wanted me so much more. And then he asked, as if I was the One he wanted.
I called you. I needed to know if you wanted me. I gave you a deadline, but you didn't reply. So I chose to be with him instead. He wasn't the best or the one I desired most, but at least I knew there would be someone out there who wanted me for who I was.
I accepted him. You called soon after, saying that you wanted me. Your voice was so sincere, I cried. My heart ached because I wished so hard, all day and all night for a year for you to be mine, but once you decided that you wanted me, it was too late.
It was partly my fault. I was too impatient. I didn't have faith in you and I was not confident of myself to know that I was the one you wanted. Maybe that's why. I didn't believe in you.
I made my choice and I will stick by it. Because God has His plans for me and I know that He will always be watching over me.
But it still aches... so so much...
