Think Gossip Girl is too college-girl and elitist for you? Miss Sex and the City? There is a new show coming up! Based on another book by Candace Bushnell, author of Sex and the City, a new series will be airing in America in January 2008!
Lipstick Jungle weaves the stories of the lives of three mature and rich women who are on The New York Post's list of New York's 50 Most Powerful Women. Brooke Shields stars as Wendy Healy, president of Parador Pictures, a movie company. Lindsay Price is Victory Ford, the hot and sexy fashion designer and Kim Raver plays Nico O'Neilly, the glamorous editor of the bestselling magazine, Bonfire.
It is more catered to the mature female audience but tugs at the heartstrings more than Sex and the City because they don’t just talk about sex, but also about the difficulties they face with the power and responsibilities they have (with great power comes great responsibilities right?).
Wendy (yay my namesake! :D), as president of the largest movie company in the US, has so many responsibilities that she has barely enough time to spend with her kids and husband (who isn’t half as capable as her and decides to divorce her in the pilot episode).
Victory is single but has to decide whether she wants to make the most out what’s left of her youth or marry this gazillionaire who likes her but spends more time on his phone than on her.
Nico is married, but her husband doesn’t even pay attention to her, while there is a young and sexy man whom she is sexually interested in. Will she give in to temptation?
Ok a typical woman show, but how can you resist it when the clothes are so pretty and sophisticated and the sets are so glamorous? Although SATC is slightly more witty and has more entertaining sexual inneundoes, I think Lipstick Jungle has more depth.
*Disclaimer: I have only watched the first episode so my review may be flawed and I have to wait and see if the rest of the episodes are worth my time.
Of course, Gossip Girl still rules! :)

books!
My first graphic novel! :)
And the super thick grand volume of Pullman's His Dark Materials.
I love the smell of new books! :) Thank you CX and Adam for the recommendations! FYI, the books are from Kino!
But I need to finish Bently & Sherman, Ling Bing and Zhang Mo before starting on Gaiman and Pullman. :( Can't wait for the exams to end..

© sony.com
Sadly, the console comes with nothing. No earphones, no games... So this also had to be bought in order for the toy to be useful! :)

While browsing, the pink one was calling out to me so desperately...
© sony.com
I so want to get it because it is so pretty in pink!!! But it's useless coz I don't play games. :( hahaha.. Maybe I should play with the silver one first before I decide. :D

with kinyew after stardust:
my minced pork noodles (dry)//kinyew's sliced pork noodles (soup)//the oh-so-fattening-but-damn-shiok peanut butter AND condensed milk thick toast//kinyew! who really wants to be known as kinyew and not by another name, although affectionate. I know it is so comfortable to call him that, but if you are his friend and you really care about how he feels, whenever you see him in school, please greet "Hi Kinyew!" and not "Hi Bob!" It took me a while, but I have gotten used to it. And I know he really appreciates it. Mr Chan Kin Yew. :)

Anyway stardust was really nice!!! So fairy tale-ish with a star-studded cast. I especially liked Robert de Niro's role as Captain Shakespeare the drag. He is hilarious. Did you know that Jimmy Choo created a limited edition shoe inspired by this magical tale?
© shoewawa
The golden chain and gem looks just like Claire Dane's star necklace in the show. Price tag? S$1,250.
But I prefer epic shows, the sort with millions of warriors fighting in a war or mythical creatures. That's why I cannot wait for The Golden Compass!!! I haven't read the books, but I heard that the Golden Compass is almost a sort of antithesis of Narnia. Narnia is written by CS Lewis, a great Christian scholar, while Philip Pullman's Golden Compass/Northern Lights have been criticised for being anti-Catholic Church because a key theme of the novel is the rejection of organized religion and the abuse of power in a fictionalized Catholic Church. Read more about the plot summary here. But I don't think I will not watch it just because of my faith. In fact, it is precisely because of my belief in the Catholic church that makes me want to watch it to understand what's right/wrong with the story. You can't criticise anything unless you fully understand it right? The Golden Compass opens in December, but I will be in US by then, so I guess I shall watch it there! :)

Which Heroes Character Are You?
You are Claire. You're naive and still getting used to your abilities. Some more experience and assertiveness would be good for you.

WOOHOO I am a hot high school cheerleader! I am Claire Bennet!! I am Hayden Panettiere!! I can regenerate!!! hur hur... Heroes debuts on Monday on Channel 5 at 10pm! Yayness!!! I would rather be watching shows on the TV screen than my tiny laptop (although beggars can't be choosers when it comes to Gossip Girl). But I only get to watch it after I finish my IT Law assignment. It's so so difficult. :( I can't wait for it to be over.. Grr... Erm.. Hi Prof Seng if you chance upon my blog! :D

chitty chitty bang bang
is FANTASMAGORICAL!!! I loved it so much!!! The car can freaking fly!!! I felt like a little kid again. When I have kids, I will definitely take them to watch Chitty!!! I loved the car, I loved the amazing props and I loved the Vulgarian dudes who were damn fat and cute!
But I am a Vulgarian... can I not act Vulgar and still speak English?
But no, that would make you an American
And the little kids there are so bloody cute! Esplanade was flooding with them today. They were classly cute, not the irritating screaming running type. We were at the merchandise counter and there was a little boy who ran into the counter area and picked up the Chitty car model gleefully. He looked at the counter staff eagerly and asked him, "Can this car tranform?" The staff was speechless. SHO CUTE!!!
At Max Brenner's, Shu Qiu and I had the best tasting Italian Thick Hot Chocolate ever.
Ok this picture doesn't do it justice. The hot chocolate comes in a 'hug mug' which you can wrap your hands around to keep warm.
The Belgian Chocolate waffle! TRULY SCRUMPTIOUS!!! :D
And I met Kenneth, whom I usually only meet once a year during Chinese New Year at Uncle Chen's house. He decided to go to the other law school!!! Rarr... Hahaha..
Pretty mobiles decorate the lobby of the Esplanade:
Lastly, the silly love song between the Baron and Baroness of Vulgaria:
You're my little chu-chi face
My coo-chi, coo-chi, woo-chi little chu-chi face
Every time I look at you I sigh
And you're my little teddy bear
My lovey lovey dovey little teddy bear
You're the apple strudel of mine eye
Your chu-chi woo-chi nose
Your chu-chi woo-chi eyes
They set my heart a flutter
Your ooo-chi coo-chi ways
Your ooo-chi coo-chi gaze
Wilts me down like meltings butter
You're my little chu-chi face
And you're my teddy bear
Together we're a chu-chi woo-chi, ooo-chi coo-chi pair
Whatever you may ask becomes my happy task
I only live to serve you
I never will divine what magic made you mine
I only know I don't deserve you
You're my little chu-chi face
And you're my teddy bear
Together we're a chu-chi woo-chi, ooo-chi coo-chi
Chu-chi, Woo-chi, Ooo-chi, Coo-chi pair
Now back to IT Law assignment. boo...

singapore open
My favourites Vijay and Scott didn't win.. :( I was following Vijay Singh, Adam Scott and Anthony Park, hoping that one of them would overtake Cabrera. Pity they didn't. Anyway, photos!
the cute Adam Scott deep in thought//walking with his caddy//after his birdie at the 16th hole//his final putt
Vijay Singh!
A pretty stream along the 16th hole.
the leader board.
Cabrera's win.
Sadly, I didn't manage to get autographs or photos taken with the golfers. The guards were so grumpy and looked ridiculous in black surrounding the golfers. Anyway, it was amazing exercise walking the entire course.
In poo news, I received purple roses from tris! :)
Thank you poo! :) -muah-

one
One beautiful night one year ago,
One boy asked one girl to be his.
Not knowing where the relationship would go,
They sealed their love with one magical kiss.
Despite the pouts and tears,
There were times of joy and laughter.
They pressed on, without any fears,
Together, their love did not falter.
Two hearts now beat as one,
One heart, one soul & one mind.
The journey has only just begun
One year – towards one lifetime.
Happy one year, Mr Tris Xavier Pruetthipunthu. I love you so much. :)
